Employees like me who live on a 5-day workweek would dream of this most of the time. That was why when the idea came up of vacationing for the Holy Week with my colleagues, no hesitations, let's do this I said.
We were battling over which place to go. Palawan, Boracay or Samal Island? Until we discovered that Surigao has something to offer other that Siargao.
We decided to make it Surigao since we were as well planning to visit our colleague's hometown after the so-called trip. At first, we were only planning to visit the city. But since our trip would be on HolyWeek 2014, we need to find a place where there will be activities during this kind of break.
Since we are not at all surf buffs (no offense to the die hard surfers :-) ) in which Siargao Island is known for, we searched for an ideal place where we can relax and throw away all our stresses and cares. We surfed (the other term) the net for possible locations. Until we found this, the Bucas Grande Group of Islands. Immediately, we fell in love with the place and really wanted to be there. So we made a go for it.
Upon leaving Cebu on the morning of April 17, my mind was running its own course. What would I expect there? Should I be excited? Should I be hesitant in climbing a cave and jump off? These and more questions were running through my head until I decided to let my cares go and just leave it to happen. :-)
Arriving at Surigao Airport, we took a tricycle ride going to the terminal. The driver charged us whooping P100 :-O after we asked him how much the fee was (minimum ra man diay!) o_O. But we didn't get angry. We paid him in full. Sagda-e na lang, I thought. 0:-)
We then took a van ride going to Claver for 1 and a half hour. We passed by quarry sites which showed us the orange-colored sand (or I think it's clay). Later on, I learned that it was iron ore. We got off at Hayanggabon Port and waited for a moment for our guide, Dharil, to arrive. He will be then taking us to Bucas Grande.. :-)
